The AMR Top 20 exhibition organisers by exhibition-organising revenue 2019, including 2020 M&A

November 2020

Leading advisers to the global events industry, AMR International has released its annual “Top 20 exhibition organisers”: the global ranking based exclusively on exhibition organising revenue. The ranking takes into account 2019 revenues and 2020 M&A activity to date.

The top three positions have not changed since the previous AMR Top 20 was issued in October 2019. Informa Markets retains the top spot, followed by Reed Exhibitions in second spot and Messe Frankfurt in third. Meanwhile, Comexposium has taken over Clarion Events to be in fourth place. Messe Nüremberg fell out of AMR’s Top 20 and MCH Group has dropped five places.

Florent Jarry, Head of Global Events Practice, AMR International said, “Although this year’s AMR Top 20 sees limited change, it will be interesting to see how exhibition organisers have weathered the storm in 2020. Dependent on show calendars and exposure to the early recovery in China, it might be that positions change more dramatically.”

The AMR Top 20 exhibition organisers by exhibition orangising revenue

The AMR Top 20 enables exhibition organisers to see how they rank in the global events market. It also helps organisers to track any shifts in market share, particularly ahead of the financial reporting cycle.

In addition, the ranking presents a pure view of organising, the dynamic and highly profitable part of the industry, by isolating exhibition organiser revenues from venue rental and service revenues. Organisers are ranked on the latest fully reported year combined with pro-forma revenues of acquisitions.

AMR International also provides more in-depth analysis on the global exhibitions industry in Globex 2020: the global exhibitions organising market: assessment and outlook to 2022.
